Cycle Rajasthan CIR

Visiting: India
Trip Duration 14 Days

Cycling Holiday in India

Leaving the chaotic streets of the capital this trip takes us through the Pink City of Jaipur and on to the beautiful lakeside city of Udaipur. Along the way we take time to look for the elusive Bengal tiger in Sariska and Ranthambore National Parks. We cycle through remote villages to gain a glimpse of daily life in this traditional region, stopping along the way to see Rajasthan's incredible moghul architecture and
dramatic forts.

Pushkar Camel Fair
One of the largest camel fairs in the world, this five-day event is held annually on the banks of Pushkar Lake. This special departure of 'Cycling Rajasthan' coincides with the tremendously atmospheric fair and spends slightly longer than normal in Pushkar to enhance the experience. The festival has become increasingly popular with tourists and features events such as a camel race which starts the festival, plus the longest moustache event, in honour of the camel traders dressed in their finery. There are various activities held throughout the days, with the strangest featuring a cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a team of tourists. There are also jewellery and material markets, and a general hive of activity throughout the colourful festival. The Pushkar Fair also has a very important religious significance where thousands of devotees visit from all different parts of India to take a holy bath in the sacred lake of Pushkar during Kartik Purnima (full moon). The 2016 Pushkar Camel Fair runs from 7th of November until 15th of November.
