Zar Zar was an excellent guide and we learnt so much about Myanmar. Bagan was my favourite part of the trip - I loved seeing all those pagodas and the cycling, and horse and cart trips were fun. The Umbra Hotel was luxurious - it had a great swimming pool with a view of a pagoda. We had a lovely group of people - 11 was the perfect number as we were a team, with no splinter groups. All in all, it was a wonderful holiday.

Excellent trip and Zar Zar was a brilliant tour leader. Highlight of the trip for me was Bagan, closely followed by Lake Inle. Accommodation was very good - much better than I expected.

Gerrards Cross
Inle lake was both beautiful and interesting; although accommodation there was the least comfortable of our trip.

It cost less than expected- aided by some meals unexpectedly included and the endless provision of bottled water.

Be prepared for lots of Pagoda visits (some magnificent); it would be have been nice to have had a bit more of a balance on the trip and a bit more general country info from our guide (eg on Nats), but this is maybe still difficult for them to provide given the politics.

Carmel, California
Highlight: The unplanned activity of visiting a village which was having a Buddhist Initiation Ceremony.

Advice: Expect to see a lot of pagodas.

A varied and interesting insight into the past and present life in Myanmar. From golden temples to bustling cities. Wonderful sunsets and food.May was an excellent tour guide. She was at all times patient and wanted the group to understand what life was like in Myanmar now and in the past.

We have had about 16 trips with Explore and each one has been excellent. We especially like the use of local guides, their knowledge gives a real insight to the history as well as the present day life of the country being visited.

The tour was well organised and in tune with Explore's ideals. We felt we were able to experience ( as much as is ever possible in such a short time) the real Myanmar.
