What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

This trip surpassed our expectations, we loved the safari days in Tanzania and were amazed at how close to the animals we managed to get and also thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Zanzibar.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

My overall experience is that this was the perfect trip for what we wanted namely the ability to see somewhere very different including a safari that we could not realistically organise ourselves, and to do so safely ie with children but in a way that left you not feeling cacooned from the real country being visited. To say there was no one highlight should emphasis that this was truly a great trip throughout. If pressed, seeing a lioness fetch her eleven cubs after a kill was the pinnacle.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Although all the accommodation was fantastic and the variety of the trip was superb, the most memorable moment was during an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti. We had just spotted a lioness drop a recent kill by a tree near to the side of the track we were on. She then moved off in sight of us. Our guide whispered that she was calling her cubs. We tracked her through the bush for five minutes or so and then after a pause we spotted one, two, three...eleven (!) cubs come out of the bush following her back past our jeep to a good meal. One appeared to get lost for a moment or two. The ability to share a short period in the wildlife's day rather than just a snapshot, was unforgettable.

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

The tour is perfectly balanced to showcase the amazing scenery, wildlife and local culture that Tanzania and Zanzibar have to offer. To specify only one highlight from our tour would be an impossible task as there were just so many. Sleeping in a tent while zebra grace only yards away, seeing the end of the migration across the Serengeti or playing football with the Masai Mara on the beach in Zanzibar are only the tip of the iceberg. Each day brought new experiences that captured the attention of adults and children alike.

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Due to the nature of this tour, you get allocated into a 4x4 safari vehicle with a driver / leader. We had a gentleman called Cha Cha who met us at the airport and made us feel very welcome from the outset. Overall there were three drivers / leaders, they worked well together and were only too happy to stop and talk with the locals along the way. They engaged the services of the local kids when we went for our waterfall walk which was a great way for our children to mix, talk and share experiences with the locals. My two boys enjoy interacting and understanding how the local children live and our tour leaders encouraged this throughout our journey. Our driver was very passionate about wildlife and was very knowledgeable as a safari guide. We have been on a number of safari's and he was good as another we have had before. He also enjoyed teaching the children how to speak the local language and learn the words to the national song that you'll hear absolutely everywhere 'Jambo bwana' - I dare you to look it up on You Tube. At the end of our stay in Tanzania, our leaders waved farewell to us as we flew over to Zanzibar, however we were picked up upon arrival and transferred to our fantastic hotel. There is no tour leader in Zanzibar, however a tour guide will take you on a tour of Stone Town and will explain what to do during your stay. It's a great wind down from a hectic week or so in Tanzania.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Take US dollars to change up. Many hotels do take dollars rather than local currency. ATM's are available in a few places but other than the Serengeti, Tanzania is great value for money so you won't need too much. Take hand wipes and hand sanitizer gel - you will have a number of packed lunches, especially during your safari. It can get very dusty and there's not many places you can jump out and wash your hands. Finally, take some binoculars for the game drives and a good camera with a good zoom - you'll only regret it when you get home and can only see a small spec in the distance.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

This is a great family tour that will not only educate children, it's also very interactive and hands on. If you like getting into the local life, this tour certainly did that and the children never felt uneasy. Great tour !

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

We lost count of the big five in the Serengeti, and then counted dolphins in the aquamarine ocean off Zanzibar. A perfect blend of all that is best in Tanzania.
