- We went in March and although it was the wet season we only had rain once on the trip. The weather generally was warm, sunny and dry. The major sites were great but there were some very long journeys ( 12 hours) and some very early starts (up at 4.30 am). We booked the tour with upgraded accommodation but apart from the La Hacienda Hotel in Lima were not impressed. The breakfasts in particular were generally poor. We also booked the Amazon extension but in comparison to other rain forest areas we have been to, there was little wildlife to see and a long and very muddy walk which would test many people's abilities. Some of the trip notes need updating. Tip. You wont need posh clothes, bring only practical ones.
