What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

After four days trekking on the Inca Trail the first view of Maccu Pichu from the Sun Gate was amazing. I couldnt believe we had actually made it. What a sight. This even surpassed a night in local accomaodation on Taquille Island on Lake Titicata where we saw the sunset from the top of the island. A remarkable sight. Also not forgetting the Condors in Flight in the Colca Canyon.

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

"Alex was well organised and knew his way around the towns we visited. His knowledge of places of interest was amazing, Too much to take in !! His organisation of appropriate transport was indeed first class with busses, boats, etc all ready for us when needed."

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

"Don't take the Andes for granted. Do as much hill walking with as much up & down as possible before you embark on this trek. It's not easy but well worth the effort. I felt that the suggested amount of spending monies was a little tight with , on occasions, two main meals in a day where I was expecting to have one snack. You probably need $600 each to cover yourself (not counting souvenirs)"

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

"A great trip. Well worth the long journey. A great group who we 'gelled with' extremely quickly. A well organised trip"

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

There are so many, that is why the tour is so good, as it’s so diverse. The Inca Trail was always going to be the main draw but the camp sites were in such fantastic locations. Camping at 3800 metres looking across a valley towards towering peaks with a full moon and wispy clouds lite by moon light, will always be an image I will never forget. Getting up and watching the sun rise and the clouds disappear at the final camp site was also spectacular. Have been to the Himalaya’s with Explore, but this was just as stunning in its own way.

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

First rate, very organised and very helpfull. Always make a difference when a leader is so enthusiastic about their own country. Also had several other guides who specialised in the various sections, All very good and good at getting the information across. Don't have a negative things to say about any of them.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

You can actually get Peruvian currency from the UK which is what I did instead off effectively changing money twice (dollars then into Sol). The cash machines can be very hit and miss. The ones at banks worked most of the time, the others dotted around in shops etc. not always. If worried about altitude, this holiday is ideal as the first few days are at a low level. Some shorter tours fly straight into altitude so does increase the risk of altitude sickness. Had no problems at all.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

If you like an adrenaline rush, do the 45 minute and Sand Dune Buggy ride at Huacachina. Although not an option by Explore, there is enough time to organise a flight over the Nazca lines yourself and is really the only way to really enjoy these. There is one company which use 12 seater new aircraft and felt very safe.If you want to give the locals some amusement at Taquile Island, go for a swim in Lake Titicaca, as only mad Brits ever do this being 9c!
