- The highlights were: the incomparable tour leader, Tim (knowledgeable, endlessly patient, ever-helpful - going out of his way, for example, to try to retrieve a power adaptor I had left behind in a hotel - intelligent and thoughtful in all his remarks about ancient and modern Turkey/Anatolia/Asia Minor); the sites of Alinda, Didyma and Aphrodisias; meals away from hotels; hotels in Selcuk and Fethiye
early October weather in SW Turkey was perfect Mediterranean weather.
The approach to some of the sites was steeper and rougher than my pair of (sensible) sandals could really manage. But it is hard to pack a big pair of mountain boots. There must be some in-between solution to the right footwear for this tour.
Don't forget a sink plug.
Be prepared for Turkish breakfast: cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, very occasionally fruit, lots of yogurt and cheese and breads. Try the delicious salty milk drink, ayran, for total refreshment after touring a site.
