Highlights were the 2 night cruise down the Irrawaddy River which was just wonderful - book the two night cruise rather than the one night cruise as this gives more time to relax and be pampered. Lake Inle is just magical, particularly in the early morning in the mist. Amara Ocean Resort in Ngapali is possibly one of the best hotels we've stayed in - the perfect R&R after a long and busy trip. If possible ask the guide to show you things other than temples which can get a bit repetitive - our guide in Mandalay took us to a local food market one morning as we are very interested in cookery and food. There were too many local crafts included in the itinerary but we asked not to see some of them as we'd seen them before. We were also invited to have lunch at a monastery and visited a local school for young nuns - real highlights for us both!
