- We enjoyed every second of our whirlwind tour of Jordan. I thought Petra by night would be the highlight but found it to be too crowded. Although Petra was beautiful and in parts breathtaking, there were too many people selling souvenirs or donkey/camel rides. Waking up in Wadi Rum was a fantastic experience. The jeep safari was good fun and the place where Lawrence of Arabia spent time was amazing (be prepared to be sold to but in a nice way). The Bedouin camp was a fantastic experience and the staff made it extra special. We stayed at Tala Bay rather than Aqaba, it was very peaceful and relaxed in a tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle of Aqaba. I'm still unsure what to say about the Dead Sea, on the way to the resort the blue/green/turquoise of the water was so beautiful and inviting. However at the top of the sea where the hotels are situated it was rather underwhelming. Floating was good fun and coating your body in the mud was an experience (although it has an unpleasant aroma). The people of Jordan are so welcoming and friendly however there is a litter problem that needs addressing.
