Extend your stay in Thailand with three days relaxing on the beautiful white-sand beaches of Rayong, within easy reach of Bangkok.
3 nights comfortable hotel
No pace rating
Itineraries on some departure dates may differ, please select the itinerary that you wish to explore.
This morning your transfer will depart from your hotel at 9am or from the airport at the agreed time and drive to the small coastal town of Rayong, taking around three hours. As Bangkok's sprawling city limits begin to fade, the highway turns south as the land begins to curve around the Gulf of Thailand. Along the way you will no doubt spot the skyscrapers and high-rises of Pattaya in the distance.
Continuing the journey further south and around the coast, you will arrive in the small town of Rayong, your base for the next three nights.
Situated on the beach with vistas out to the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand, the Kanatary Bay is a comfortable base to relax for a few days. Rooms are spacious and modern complete with air-conditioning, in-room Wi-Fi, room service and balconies, whilst the hotel benefits from two swimming pools, a gym, tennis courts and a choice of restaurants to cater for a variety of tastes.
Upon checking in, the rest of the day is free.
Please note that this is a stand-alone extension and can be booked on any date of your choosing, subject to availability. Whilst this itinerary has been designed to complement a number of our group tours, we wish to point out that this extension is not a group experience, so you are unlikely to be travelling with other Explore customers .
Kantary Bay Hotel (or similar)
Today has been left free to relax and to make the most of the hotel's facilities. For those feeling more active, the resort often lays on badminton or volleyball on the beach. Alternatively, you could head into Ban-Pae and Rayong town for a browse around the markets and harbour.
In the evening, be sure to take a stroll further up the beach where you will find a number of beach-side shacks and bars serving up delicious fresh seafood caught earlier that day.
Today is another free day. There is the option to take the ferry out to Koh Samet Island, lying just a few kilometres off of the coast of Rayong. This lush island paradise was declared a National Park in 1981, which arrested the rapid urban development that affected so many other Thai islands. This means present-day Koh Samet enjoys a sleepier, more relaxed atmosphere with far fewer hotels and resorts. The highlight of the island is Sai Kaew Beach, literally translated into 'Crystal Sand Beach' due to its beautiful white sands. Bikes are available to hire to explore Koh Samet's interior, and there are popular snorkelling spots dotted around the island, full of coral and abundant tropical fish.
You will be collected from your hotel this morning and driven back to Bangkok airport, a journey of approximately two and a half hours. The trip ends at the airport.
Generally hot with high humidity. There is some rainfall from April to September with most days being hot (around 33 Degrees) and a light breeze on the islands. If it does rain, it will be more of a heavy tropical downpour that lasts a few hours. Additional information and climate charts can be accessed at http://www.explore.co.uk/weather.
