Comox, BC, Canada
- This was an absolutely wonderful walking holiday, and much of the credit for this goes to our guide, Costis, who is so passionate about his island and so considerate of making sure we all had a great experience. The scenery was lovely, the terrain varied, the food delightful and all the people we met so friendly and welcoming.
Highlights of the trip included beach swims, tavernas aplenty, tranquil sunlit olive grove and forest walks, hilltop island vistas, dramatic thunderstorms (at night) and a stunning final day with both the ascent of Pantokrator and reaching the end of the Corfu Trail at the northernmost point of the island.
The walking was never difficult, but there were some fairly long days which seemed harder in the heat and humidity (and this was in October!). Come prepared, and good idea to bring a good stock of blister plasters (Compeed or similar) as the heat can sometimes contribute to foot problems even with well broken-in footwear. A large size quick-dry backpacking towel (such as PackTowl brand) is also an excellent thing for those beach swims!
