It was a packed itinerary which gave us many different aspects of the beautiful island of Corfu, especially the parts that many tourists don't see. We especially enjoyed the diverse flora and fauna, which our local guide Spiros, was an expert in. His knowledge and passion for the island added to our experience. We also enjoyed the food, the friendly taverna and hotel owners and everyone else we met on our trek. All in all, we had a fabulous time!

A very well-arranged trip which passed through quite a large section of Corfu over the fortnight (you walk across the island twice). The scenery was fabulous, and it was very interesting to see the inland villages and agricultural areas which you wouldn't normally visit on holiday. May was a perfect time to travel with mainly sunny (but not baking hot) weather and flowers everywhere. Our tour leader Spiros was great, very knowledgable about the island and extremely helpful.

Not having travelled with Explore for a few years, I was pleased to find that there was no longer just one 'group flight', but that all flights on the start day were met.

I was also pleasantly surprised to get a list of accommodation before the trip. However, I would mention that this wasn't totally accurate (for the three nights in Kalami, for example, the group were spread around various apartments in the village, so obviously there's no swimming pool available - though there is a pool bar in the village if you wanted that option. Also, single travellers were often not accommodated in the named hotel but in nearby studios or other apartments, which were not always to the same standard.

Although the first week of the two is graded moderate, the actual walking days are often longer than the second week and there is no rest day, so take Compeed and catch any blisters quickly (unlike me!). The weather in May was warm and mainly sunny, but we did have some rain, and walking boots and waterproofs were definitely needed as well as walking sandals.

The walking was very varied and endlessly enjoyable. We splashed through the sea, walked through olive groves, navigated the "Dunes of Doom" and eventually ascended the mountain and were rewarded with wonderful views and a real sense of achievement. We encountered brilliant sunshine, which enhanced all the views, and also torrential rain which soaked us to the skin in seconds! It all added to the experience. All this was enhanced by an outstanding tour leader who kept us all in order and informed in the quirkiest ways imaginable.
This was my first Explore tour but will definitely not be my last.

West London.
Nicely varied walking and scenery. Some fairly flat sections, some good climbing sections, some beach walking and so on. Local villages, olive groves, great views of the sea and coast line and hills/mountains.
A nice pace each day. Good walking combined with stops at local tavernas and cafes plus some picnics.

Our guide, Spiros, was first class. A local man who clearly loved his island and was very knowledgeable and very interested in the local plants, animals and customs. He was very enthusiastic and very helpful at all times.

Great itinerary, excellent tour leader, accommodation somewhat hit and miss (most good, but one with no hot water on arrival, and a freshly painted bath where the paint came off on our feet when we showered!).

the trip gives you a good perspective of Corfu and it was great getting to know the others on the trip.

Comox, BC, Canada
This was an absolutely wonderful walking holiday, and much of the credit for this goes to our guide, Costis, who is so passionate about his island and so considerate of making sure we all had a great experience. The scenery was lovely, the terrain varied, the food delightful and all the people we met so friendly and welcoming.

Highlights of the trip included beach swims, tavernas aplenty, tranquil sunlit olive grove and forest walks, hilltop island vistas, dramatic thunderstorms (at night) and a stunning final day with both the ascent of Pantokrator and reaching the end of the Corfu Trail at the northernmost point of the island.

The walking was never difficult, but there were some fairly long days which seemed harder in the heat and humidity (and this was in October!). Come prepared, and good idea to bring a good stock of blister plasters (Compeed or similar) as the heat can sometimes contribute to foot problems even with well broken-in footwear. A large size quick-dry backpacking towel (such as PackTowl brand) is also an excellent thing for those beach swims!

Varied walking along mostly good tracks and paths - we walked the whole trail in light weight walking shoes/sandals. Costas (our Tour Leader) was excellent and really made the walks interesting and fun. Standards of accommodation were OK for the most part but some places used were a little tired but hey this is a 'Classic' trip.

A good experience. From the booking through to the organisation of the trip. The tour leader was excellent.
