Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

If you're an early riser, take the opportunity to practice Tai Chi on the deck while admiring the serene landscape of the bay. Continue cruising along the green limestone islands and islets, many of which are uninhabited. Observe the floating villages and fishermen carrying out their everyday activities. We'll then set out to explore the remarkable Dark and Bright Cave, a striking frog-jaw shaped cave with shimmering stalactites which we reach by rowing boat with a local guide. We'll have a late breakfast before disembarking at around 10:30 and returning to Hanoi. Whilst in Hanoi we have use of day rooms to freshen up before the evening where we'll board the Reunification Express for our overnight rail journey south, to Danang, staying in comfortable four-berth cabins. Passing through some of Vietnam's most breathtaking landscapes, it's an authentic and practical way to travel. That being said, amenities are fairly basic. While we try to ensure our group stays together, at times we might have to share cabins with local travellers. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we choose to travel by train instead of flying - cutting carbon emissions and enjoying a more authentic experience of local life along the way.

Is this the trip for you?
- We've graded our tour of Vietnam and Cambodia as full-on and we'll be moving at a fast pace to fit in the highlights. Expect a packed itinerary balanced with some free time to relax or explore solo.
- We cover a lot of ground and there'll be some long drives - these are a great chance to soak up some of the scenery.
- During our tour, we visit several temples, for which you'll need to dress appropriately. Make sure to bring clothing that covers your shoulders and trousers or skirts that go past your knees. A light scarf is also useful for covering your shoulders and arms, especially in hot weather.
- Vietnam has three climatic zones with different seasons so you should be prepared for hot and humid as well as cooler conditions. The sun is always strong and there is always the chance of rain so pack for all weather.
- Food is a highlight of any trip to Cambodia, and we'll have plenty of opportunities to sample the delicacies, from street stalls to local restaurants. Cambodian food caters to all diets, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free - just remember to ask for your dish to be prepared without fish sauce or shrimp paste.
- Our itinerary includes the option to visit the Killing Fields which, while historically important, can be a harrowing experience.
