With their thoughts turned to completing the challenge and raising much needed funds for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust, our 16 brave team members set out in the pouring rain on Saturday morning along the South Downs Way. Trying to push thoughts of being soaking wet, tired, hungry and sore out of their minds, they pushed on through the night towards the finish line. With only 5 dropping out due to injury along the way, out teams managed to get a staggering 11 people to the end, finishing at Brighton Race course early on Sunday afternoon.

Here is a summary of how each team did.

  • Team Explore: Finished 28hrs 31 minutes – Jo, Fiona and Debs (sadly Steve had knee injury at 60km)
  • Ambulambus Explore: Finished 28hrs 37 minutes – Rohan, Penny and her boyfriend (Ruth sadly knee injured at 37km)
  • Unhappy Feet: Finished in – 29hrs 5 mins – Meg, Olly and Ali (Olly's friend). Sadly Sean dropped out at 50km (also with a knee injury).
  • Tufty Club finished in 34hrs – Vic and Noel (Explore passengers) pressed on despite being over the time limit – AMAZING! Sadly Cat out at 20km and Bex out at 37km)

And if you are thinking 'phew - rather them than me'! please show your appreciation by sponsoring them at . Amount raised at the moment is about £6,600.

A big thank you has to go to the Gurkhas who organise this event every year, keeping everybody on the right route, providing hot & cold drinks and first aid along the way - as well as the most amazing curry at the end!
