Added 18 May 2012
Trekking Mount Toubkal

At 4167 metres Jebel Toubkal is North Africa’s highest mountain and is on the list of must-dos for any self-respecting peak-bagger. There are a wide range of different ways we can help you reach the top of Toubkal, but we've picked out three different options – covering you no matter what time of year you want to go and even if you can only spare a couple of days off work.

Scale it in the summer…
Our one-week Morocco trekking adventure in the High Atlas runs in June, July, August and September and culminates in an ascent of Jebel Toubkal. Beginning in the valleys of the Atlas mountains, you'll trek through juniper forests and past Berber villages before trekking to nearby peaks, including the ultimate goal of Mount Toubkal. Once the trek is completed, there is time to explore Marrakech, Morocco’s captivating and colourful capital. Experience the sights and sounds of he Djemma el-fna and barter for bargains in the souks.

toubkalpagejtDiscover it during Winter…
For a different experience of Toubkal, how about during the snowy winter? Assisted by mules and muleteers, the trek starts in the valleys of the Toubkal Massif. You'll trek along mule paths and up into rocky cliffs high above the valley. Continuing up across the snow line you''ll ascend Mount Toubkal where, on a clear day you can see the entire Toukbal range, right down to the plains of surrounding Marrakech. To the north lie the white giants of the High Atlas and to the south, the Anti Atlas and the Sahara. Try this winter walking tour in Morocco to see the mountain in a different way.

toubkalpageataTake just a few days off work…
If time is of the essence, then this Mount Toubkal trek which simply focuses on climbing the mountain is the one for you. Travelling from Marrakech, you’ll pass through villages as you make your ascent, giving you the unique experience of traditional Berber hospitality. As you make the final ascent of Toubkal, you'll cross scree fields which, combined with the altitude, make the going quite difficult in parts. But the views along the way - and especially at the summit - makes the journey worthwhile.
