How to enter the Photography Competition

If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning our 2021 Photography Competition, simply choose your favourite high resolution picture that was taken on an Explore trip and email it to marketing@explore.co.uk.

To have the best chance of being featured, we have provided some guidelines below, and we advise that you read these through before sending us your entry.

Our favourite photographs will be featured in the 2021 calendar, with the best entry winning £250 Explore trip vouchers. Good luck!

How to win

We want to see:

• Once-in-a-lifetime experiences
• Breath-taking landscapes
• Incredible architecture
• Rare wildlife sightings

Photograph criteria

We only accept photographs that meet the following criteria:

File size: Minimum 1.5MB
Resolution: High resolution
Orientation: Landscape
File type: .jpg
Send as: Email attachment
We do not accept photographs through online sharing tools such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

How to enter

Email entry guidelines:

Include:
•    Your name
•    The name of the person who took the photograph
•    Your winning photograph(s)
•    The trip the photograph was taken on
•    A brief description of what’s featured in the photo

We can't accept

  • More than three photograph entries per person
  • Photographs that were not taken on an Explore trip
  • Photographs that were not taken by you
  • Entries from anyone under the age of 18 years
  • Photographs that include EU citizens faces, without written consent from those individuals
  • Modified entries; this includes resizing, cropping or colour adjustment
  • Photographs that have been sold commercially and have already been published, online or in print

Terms & Conditions


Entering the competition
  1. The Explore Photography Competition is open to UK residents aged a minimum of 18 years, subject to meeting the remaining terms and conditions.
  2. This photo competition is not open to employees of Explore Worldwide, the Hotelplan group or anyone else connected with the administration of the competition. 
  3. Images submitted must have been taken by the person credited by you.
  4. If you are not the photographer you must have permission from the person who took the photograph to submit it to the competition. Please send a copy of the written consent (either from a photograph or scan of a written note or document) which explicitly provides consent from the named third party.
  5. Explore reserves the right to disqualify an entry on the grounds that ownership of the photograph is unclear, or if it is decided by Explore staff that any of the terms and conditions have been broken.
  6. You must state which Explore trip and the date the photograph was taken when you submit your entry. Only photographs taken on Explore trips will be considered for entry.
  7. Photos must be GDPR compliant. If a photo contains an identifiable human subject who is also an EU citizen, then written consent for their likeness to be shared with Explore for the purpose of this photography competition and subsequent usage thereafter must be attained from this individual.  Please send a copy of the written consent (either from a photograph or scan of a written note or document) which explicitly provides consent from the data subject.
  8. Explore will only accept non-commercial photos that have not been published already, either online or in print. Explore can accept photos that have been published on non-commercial personal platforms including personal social media accounts, personal websites and blogs.
  9. To enter the competition, you must email your photograph to marketing@explore.co.uk, with the subject line ‘Explore Photo Competition 2020’ and include the full name of the photographer, the date of when the photograph was taken, your email address, the trip which the photograph was taken on, the location, and a brief description of no longer than fifty words describing the photograph contents. We do not accept photographs by postal mail or external website links.
  10. Photographs must be high resolution.
  11. If an expense is incurred to send your photograph to Explore, Explore is not liable to reimburse you.
  12. Explore reserves the right to modify entries, including but not limited to resizing, cropping or colour adjustment as necessary.
  13. Each entrant is only permitted up to three entries into this competition.
  14. Enquiries relating the competition should be emailed to marketing@explore.co.uk, with the subject line of ‘Explore Photo Competition 2020’.
  15. By entering the competition, you are consenting to accepting our terms and conditions.
  16. By entering the competition you are giving Explore permission to publish your photograph in our 2020 calendar and for it to be kept on file for promotional use elsewhere by Explore for an indefinite period of time.
  17. The closing date for entries is 31 October 2020. 
 
Winners
  1. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  2. Our favourite images will be chosen to feature in our 2021 calendar and one overall winning image will be awarded £250 in Explore holiday voucher. The winner of these vouchers will be notified by email within 14 days of the closing date of the competition. The prize is £250 in Explore holiday voucher which can be redeemed against any new Explore holiday booking within two years of issue. The voucher cannot be redeemed against any existing bookings. Explore Booking Conditions apply to the Explore holiday voucher winner.
  3. There is no cash or other alternative and the prize is not transferable.
  4. The winners’ voucher will be posted to them within 28 days of the closing date of the competition.
