October Half Term family holidays

For an October half term with a difference, Explore has a great selection of trips on offer for families in search of adventure.

Choose to stay in a desert camp in Oman, ride snowmobiles across the Icelandic snowfields or spot leopard in Sri Lanka for some serious bragging rights when the kids return to school. Explore’s new Family Oman Adventure spends seven days discovering the diverse landscapes of Oman, from the Wahiba Sands to the capital of Muscat. Visit a turtle reserve on the beach of Ras Al Hadd, enjoy a camel ride across Wahiba Sands to stay in a desert camp and meet a local Bedouin family. Take a boat ride for a chance to spot dolphins, learn how to cook a traditional Omani dish and relax on Finns Beach. Trips depart on 22 October 2016 and cost from £1,829 per adult and £1,699 per child (minimum age five). This price includes return flights, four nights’ hotel and two nights’ camping accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, six other meals, transport and the services of an Explore Leader, driver and local guides.

Explore’s new Winter Iceland Family Adventure is an eight day family tour with the chance to close to erupting geysers, explore the beautiful snow-covered glaciers, relax in the thermal waters of The Blue Lagoon and visit the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall. Families can also experience a Richter six earthquake in an earthquake simulator and search for humpback whales during a whale watching trip. This trip departs on the 22 October 2016 and costs from £1,759 per adult and £1,599 per child (minimum age eight). This price includes return flights; five nights’ hotel and two nights’ guesthouse accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, transport and the services of an Explore Leader and driver.

Explore’s 15 day Sri Lankan and Maldives Family Adventure explores the dense jungles, exotic wildlife and cultural highlights of this region in the Indian Ocean. Discover the deserted city of Polonnaruwa, home to the reclining Buddha, visit a turtle hatchery with and spend time kayaking and cycling around Anamaduwa. Spot elephant and leopards in Kaudulla National Park and Cruise through the Maldives on board a traditional dhoni, with plenty of time to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters take part in a cooking lesson on the Maldivian island of Rihiveli. This trip departs on 15 October 2016 and costs from £2,025 per adult and £1,725 per child (minimum age five). This price includes return flights, 14 nights’ accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, some meals, transport and the services of an Explore Leader, driver and local guides.
