The adventure travel specialists, Explore, have today expanded its product offering with the launch of its 2015/16 Polar Voyages brochure.
The new collection features a wider selection for customers including three new tours to The Arctic and selected Polar Voyages now costing from just £2,049 per person. Explore is now also offering an increased number of five and six day voyages.
New for 2015/16 is the land-based, six day Polar Bears in Churchill, designed especially for polar bear enthusiasts. This expedition provides a unique opportunity to admire polar bears up-close, from the comfort of a Tundra Buggy - a bespoke vehicle for polar bear viewing. Customers will travel alongside an experienced guide who will explain the bear’s behaviour and customers may even be lucky enough to witness the wonder of the Northern Lights. Commencing in October and November 2015, the tour costs from £3,559 per person to include accommodation, some meals, transport and the services of a wildlife guide.
For those with more time, the new 14 day Across the Arctic Circle voyage follows the Vikings’ way from northeast Scotland to Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago. Customers will enjoy the history and birdlife of the Orkney and Shetland islands; cross the Arctic Circle and follow migrating whales along Norway’s dramatic coastline. Spitsbergen is home to walrus, reindeer and polar bear and boasts a stunning dramatic polar landcape. Departing in June 2015, the tour costs from £4,200 per person to include accommodation, some meals, transport and the services of a boat crew.
Alternatively, the 10 day Iceland and Northwest Spitsbergen expedition offers customers a unique insight to Iceland and Svalbard, Norway. Customers will encounter Arctic fox and seals; visit one of the most isolated islands in the world, Jan Mayen and cross the Barents Sea. Customers will also sail past Alkhornet, one of the most prominent bird cliffs home to Kittiwakes. Commencing in July 2015, the tour costs from £3,507 per person to include accommodation, meals, transport and the services of a boat crew.
Ashley Toft, Managing Director for Explore, commented “Explore has been offering small group adventures for over 33 years now and Polar Adventures are one of our newer additions. A trip to the Polar Regions was once an impossible dream, but people are beginning to realise that there’s no reason they why they can’t see the poles for themselves”.
He continued, “Over the last few years we’ve received ever-increasing demand for polar adventures. This year, we’re pleased to offer 35 different voyages each providing a truly fantastic experience.”
