The adventure travel specialists, Explore have donated £500 to Step by Step, a charity who work to empower young homeless people and those facing adversity.
The Farnborough based tour operator, who works with a number of charities and projects around the world, asked their 100 members of staff to cast their votes for their favourite charity and Step by Step was elected by the majority.
Step by Step exist to provide accommodation, training and guidance to young people facing challenges and rely heavily on donations, corporate sponsorship and partnerships in order to operate.
Ashley Toft, Managing Director of Explore commented, "As part of our commitment to be responsible in everything we do, we value the importance of supporting local charities and projects like Step by Step. We find it beneficial to communicate with staff about what we can do to help local communities both in the UK and overseas”.
He continued, “We run a company-wide initiative called 12 Months of Giving whereby each team is assigned a month and given the task to organise a fundraising event for a local project. In the past we’ve cooked pancakes in the staff car park for charity and arranged book collections for a local hospital. As part of this initiative, once a year staff are asked to nominate a charity they would like to support through a company donation of £500 – which is how we came to helping Step by Step.”
