Explore launches 18 new walking and trekking trips in 2016/17 brochure

The adventure travel specialist, Explore has launched 18 new trips for its 2016/17 Walking and Trekking collection.

Explore’s latest portfolio offers a wide choice of walking trips to suit all abilities from uncovering hidden gems in New York, hiking to waterfalls and volcanoes in Costa Rica and meandering through local villages in Puglia to  sample the delicious local food and wine.

Explore’s 15 day Volcanoes and Tropical Forests trip journeys through Costa Rica and Nicaragua visiting volcanoes, remote waterfalls and rainforest. Discover Isla Ometepe, situated in the middle of Lake Nicathe ragua and explore the beautiful colonial cities of Leon and Granada. Trips depart in November and December 2016 and cost from £2,087 per person. This price includes return flights; 12 nights’ hotel and two nights’ lodge accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; transport and the services of an Explore Leader, local guides and driver.

Walk New York is Explore’s first urban seven day walking trip in the bustling city of New York. The easy graded walks take you to the major highlights of the Big Apple, including 5th Avenue, Little Italy and Times Square. Stroll along the Highline, an elevated railway line that has been turned into a park; take a ferry around Manhattan Island and immerse yourself in the jazz bars that are dotted around the city. Trips depart in April – October 2016 and costs from £1595 per person. This price includes return flights; six nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; transport and the services of an Explore Leader.

Explore’s Fitzroy and Torres del Paine moderately graded walking trip journeys through Argentina and Chile. The 15 day trip visits the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, the impressive lake region of Mount Fitzroy and the glaciers and peaks of Patagonia. Take a boat trip to Viedma Glacier for an ice trek and hike to Las Torres viewpoint for stunning views over the Paine Towers. This trip departs in January, February, November and December 2016 and costs from £3809 per person. This price includes return flights; 13 nights’ accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; transport and the services of an Explore Leader, driver and local guide.

Explore’s new A Taste of Puglia offers easy graded walking trip through the rolling landscapes in the heel of Italy. Discover the superb cheeses, bread and wines of the region, stroll through Alta Murgia National Park and explore the ancient troglodyte town of Matera. Visit the conical trulli houses in the Itria Valley and enjoy a lesson on how to make orecchiette pasta. This trip departs in May, June, September and October 2016 and costs from £1068 per person. Explore’s eight day Self-Guided Portofino and the Cinque Terre is a moderate graded walking trip on the Ligurian Riviera. Hike the trails from the seaside town of Portofino to the colourful harbour of Portovenere. Enjoy walks through quiet forests and picturesque fishing villages. No trip to Italy is complete without savouring the delicious local cuisine and wine. Departures run from April to October and cost from £520 per person.  This price includes seven nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and luggage transfers.

Explore’s new Self-Guided Tour du Mont Blanc is a nine day challenging walking trip through spectacular alpine landscapes. Trek the iconic Mont Blanc Circuit through France, Switzerland and Italy and soak up the views to the dramatic snow-capped peaks and idyllic valleys. Enjoy warm hospitality while staying in beautiful mountain lodges and sample the locally produced cuisine. Departures run from June – September 2016 and cost from £960 per person. This price includes eight nights’ accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; all evening meals and luggage transfers.

Remote trails of Portugal
