Explore launches 20 new cycling trips in 2016/17 brochure

The adventure travel specialist, Explore has launched 20 new trips for its 2016/17 Cycling Adventures collection with 5% off new trips booked before 19 October 2015*. 

New destinations include Belgium, Netherlands, Finland and Mexico with a wide choice of trips to suit all levels of cyclist from small groups to self-guided holidays.

Ashley Toft, Managing Director at Explore commented on the new cycling trips: “We’re really excited to be launching such a huge variety of new cycling trips this year. “We’ve included 10 new tours to suit all abilities from cycling iconic routes such as London to Paris to getting off the beaten track and exploring destinations such as the Turku archipelago in Finland. We include the hire of high-quality bikes in the cost of our trips, which eliminates any additional costs or hassle associated with taking a bike on holiday.”

He continued “Self-Guided has proved to be extremely popular since its launch last year and to meet the demand, we’ve also introduced 10 new trips to suit those who enjoy the flexibility and freedom of cycling independently. We’ve had excellent feedback about the easy to follow itinerary and maps and the luggage transfers make for a stress free holiday”.

Explore’s new easy graded Cycle Finland: Turku Archipelago offers a seven day trip discovering the Turku archipelago and the Finnish capital of Helsinki on two wheels. Begin the journey in the bike-friendly city of Helsinki and enjoy cycle tour of the cities impressive architecture. Journey to the old capital of Turku to spend three days island-hopping the archipelago while cycling along a coastal route that visits remote fishing communities. There will also be time to explore the unspoilt port town of Hanko, the most southernmost point of Finland and discover Kivimaa Island. This trip departs in July, August and September 2016 and costs from £1,093 per person. This price includes return flights; six nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; transport and the services of an Explore leader and driver.

Explore’s new easy to moderate graded Cycle Flanders: Bruges to Brussels encompasses the highlights of Belgium on two wheels. Pedal gentle flats, explore Bruges on foot, with a chocolate walking tour with time to make and sample your own chocolates and enjoy a beer tasting session. Discover the coastal landscapes on the way to the vibrant sea port of Ostend, pedal through quiet fishing villages to the medieval city of Ypres, and Passchendaele’s moving WWI cemetery. Trips depart in May, July, August and September 2016 and costs from £997 per person. This price includes return flights; six nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; bike hire; transport and the services of an Explore leader and driver.

Explore’s nine day Cycle Mexico – The Yucatan Peninsula offers an easy graded trip exploring the colonial towns and colourful Mayan villages of Mexico. Ride rugged sand paths to quaint coastal towns, learn how to make and sample locally produced Tequila and visit the fascinating ancient site of Chichen Itza. Take a dip in the crystal clear natural water pools surrounded by jungle after a day of cycling and relax on the idyllic white sand beaches of Tulum. Trips depart in January – March and September – December 2016 and cost from £1,757 per person. For a more challenging ride, Explore’s new Cycle London to Paris is a five day trip between the iconic cities of London and Paris. Taking a scenic and varied route, discover the beautiful countryside of Surrey and Normandy; stop to explore the D-Day battle sites and refuel with the wonderful local cuisine. Journey into Paris from Monet’s garden in Giverny; marvel at the iconic landscapes from the saddle, including the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Élysées and feel the sense of achievement of covering the 438 kilometres between London and Paris. Trips depart in April, May and June 2016 and cost from £595 per person. This price includes three nights’ hotel and one night boat accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; bike hire; support vehicle and the services of an Explore leader.

The seven day easy graded Self-Guided Highlights of Holland by Bike offers a chance to explore the bike-friendly nation of Holland, where 75% of journeys taken are made by bicycle. Discover the organised canal systems of Amsterdam and the museums of Haarlem, a city situated on the river Spaarne. Pedal along the superb network of cycle paths; spot the picturesque windmills, and during springtime enjoy the views over the patchwork of colour in the flower fields of Leiden. Trips depart from April – October 2016 and cost from £475 per person. This price includes six nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; bike hire and the services of a luggage transfer.

Travel from Salzburg to Venice on Explore’s new Self-Guided Alpe Adria Bike Pathtrip. Journey along the award-winning cycle route through Austria and Italy and soak up the breathtaking alpine scenery. Arrive in the historic city of Udine and explore the Venetian buildings, before venturing to the quaint coastal town of Grado, on the Adriatic coast.
