Explore invites customers to their travel event - Explore Live

Adventure travel specialist, Explore, is offering customers complimentary tickets to attend their exclusive weekend travel event, Explore Live.

The event will be held over two days at the Royal Geographical Society in London on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October, 2014. With an impressive guest list that includes Helen Skelton, Jake Meyer, Alastair Humphreys and Julia Bradbury, the Society will be transformed to encapsulate the sights and sounds of the world’s colourful continents with a specially designed set.

Jake Meyer and Helen Skelton will be speaking on the Saturday. Helen is best known for being the longest standing Blue Peter presenter. In her personal life, Helen has undertaken a host of adventurous feats. In 2009 she became only the second woman ever to finish the 78 mile Namibian Ultra Marathon and in 2010 she kayaked the entire length of the River Amazon solo, breaking a number of world records along the way. In 2012, Helen also became the first person to reach the South Pole by bicycle.

On the Sunday, Julia Bradbury and Alastair Humphrey will host their talks. Named as one of National Geographic’s Adventurers of the Year 2012, Alastair has taken on adventures in some of the world’s wildest places. His most notable achievement was spending four years cycling around the world. Since then he has undertaken many extreme adventures including rowing the Atlantic Ocean, walking the length of the holy Kaveri River in India, completing expeditions in Greenland and the Arctic, crossing Iceland by foot and packraft and walking across the Empty Quarter desert. Most recently, Alastair has focused on encouraging others to fit more adventure into their busy lives through his concept of ‘Microadventures’.

All of the speakers will share stories and anecdotes from their travels at the event and guests will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of each presentation. Alastair will also be signing copies of his iconic book, ‘Microadventures’ which customers will be able to purchase for £15 on the Sunday. During Explore Live, guests will have the opportunity to wander through street scenes, markets and temples in a specially designed set, soaking up the atmosphere of the Americas; Asia; Europe; Africa and the Middle East.

Ashley Toft, Managing Director of Explore commented, “We have a lot of very loyal customers - over 60% of people that book with us have been on an Explore trip before. A significant proportion of these have travelled with us over ten, twenty or even thirty times. Explore Live is our way of saying a big thank you to them. It also provides an opportunity for anyone who is new to adventure travel or Explore to learn more about us.”

He continued, “We have come a long way since launching in 1981 with just six tours in a four-page brochure. However, our pioneering spirit remains and we are always pushing the boundaries with the trips that we offer and the places that we visit. Explore Live provides us with the opportunity to take a step back and celebrate all that we have achieved as a leading adventure travel specialist – both through our small group tours and tailor-made offering.”

Guests who attend Explore Live will have the exclusive opportunity to get their copies of the brand new 2015/16 brochures before anyone else, providing customers with a sneak-peek of some of the new tours and destinations that will be available.

Guests have the option to register for the morning or afternoon session of Explore Live, on Saturday 4th or Sunday 5th October. The morning sessions will run from 10am – 1.30pm and the afternoon sessions from 2pm – 5.30pm. In 2011 all tickets were reserved within a matter of hours; so please book early to avoid any disappointment.
