Explore launches six new Cycling Adventures

The adventure travel specialist, Explore has launched six exciting cycling new trips with a launch offer of up to 10% discount on all new cycling holidays booked by 7 November 2016*.

Cyclists can now choose from over 50 Explore group trips and more than 20 self-guided itineraries with a wide selection of trips to suit all abilities. New trips include cycling from the slopes of Kili through to the spectacular Rift Valley in Tanzania to cycling through remote ethnic minority villages in southwestern China.

Both Explore’s new Cycle Kili to Ngorongoro and Cycle the Backroads of China offer a more challenging ride and a unique way to experience these fascinating countries.  Enjoy spectacular views of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru as you ride through Masaai land and search for rhino, buffalo and elephants on safari drives in Tarangire National Park.

Alternatively venture through rural China on the new 12 day trip travelling from Chengdu to Guilin. Visit the Giant Panda breeding centre, ride past terraced rice paddies and mountainous backdrops through the remote villages of rural China and discover the cliff-carved Tang Dynasty and learn to cook local delicacies.  

Closer to home, the new eight day Cycle the Cathar Castles trip travels through south-west France. Visit the medieval fortress of Carcassonne, pedal past impressive Cathar castles and pretty villages and discover the Mediterranean coast and the historic town of Perpignan. Finish the day of cycling by sampling local wine and delicacies and relaxing in healing hot springs of Limoux.

Discover Europe’s oldest border between Spain and Portugal on the new Cycle Seville to Porto trip which travels through hill-top villages and beautiful landscapes, before taking a train along the Douro Valley.

Explore’s first road bike trip, Dolomites to Venice by Road Bike, is a new eight day trip travelling through northern Italy, past the shores of Lake Garda. Follow the high passes on the historic Giro D’Italia route and discover the pretty alpine towns in the Carnic Alps before cycling past vineyards and fruit orchards to the beautiful city of Padova.

For a more leisurely cycle, Explore’s new seven day Self-Guided Cycle Nice to Genoa trip discovers the Cote d’Azur and the Italian Riviera, passing through beautiful villages steeped in history. Soak up the views of where the Alps meet the Mediterranean Sea from the saddle and refuel on the wonderful local food and wine.

This trip is a truly unique way to enjoy the spectacular views of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru as you ride on a mixture of dirt trails and tarmac roads through Masaai land, visiting villages along the way. During the trip you will also get the chance to go in search of rhino, buffalo and elephants on safari drives in Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park and last but not least an unforgettable game drive in Ngorongoro Crater National Park.Trips depart in June, November, December 2017 and January 2018 and cost from £2,350 per person. Explore’s new 12 day Cycle the Backroads of China offers moderate to challenging graded cycling from ChengDu to Guilin. Join the trip in the sprawling city of ChengDu and visit the Giant Panda breeding centre and follow the route past terraced rice paddies and mountainous backdrops through the remote villages of rural China.  Discover the cliff-carved Tang Dynasty; learn to cook local delicacies before finishing the trip with cycle rides and cruises along the Li River amid stunning Karst scenery.  Trips depart in May, June, September and October 2017 and costs from £2,960 per person. This price includes return flights, 11 nights’ hotel and one overnight train accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, bike hire, transport and the services of an Explore Leader, cycle guide, bike mechanic and driver.

Explore’s new eight day moderate to challenging Cycle the Cathar Castles travels through south-west France. Visit the medieval fortress of Carcassonne, pedal past impressive Cathar castles and pretty villages onto the Mediterranean coast and spend time in the historic town of Perpignan. The rides vary from quiet lanes and along the Vermillion Coast to the Pyrenean foothills, with the chance to sample local wine and delicacies along the way as well as relax in healing hot springs in Limoux. Explore’s new eight day Cycle Seville to Porto journeys from the beautiful city of Seville along Europe’s oldest border between Spain and Portugal, passing through vast and beautiful landscapes along the way. The moderate graded trip visits hill-top villages and travels through the hinterland of the Extremadura region before boarding a train to travel along the Douro Valley. The trip finishes in Porto and cyclists are welcomed with a celebratory glass of port. Trips depart in April, May, September and October 2017 and cost from £1,189 per person. This price includes return flights, seven nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, bike hire, all transport and the services of an Explore Leader and cycle guide.

Explore’s new Dolomites to Venice by Road Bike spends eight days on a challenging graded trip through northern Italy, past the shores of Lake Garda. Explore’s seven day Self-Guided Cycle Nice to Genoa trip offers easy graded cycling on the Cote d’Azur and the Italian Riviera. Cycling point to point, where the whole journey is made by bike, discover both the elegant city of Nice and the port of Genoa. Cycling on mostly quiet roads and bike paths where the Alps meet the Mediterranean Sea, the route passes through beautiful villages steeped in history. There are plenty of opportunities to refuel on the wonderful local food and wine. Departures run from April – October and cost from £999 per person. This price includes seven nights’ accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, bike hire and luggage transfer between each hotel.
