Scotland is well known for its rugged coastline, deep myth filled lochs and stunning landscapes perfect for exploring on foot.
One of the most popular areas for walkers are the Orkney Islands, which offer historic sites such as the Stone Age village of Skara Brae as well as puffin colonies and wildflowers in abundance. On the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides you can get a feel for island life and walk along the beautiful deserted beaches.
For more of a challenge there is the mighty Ben Nevis, standing at 1,344 metres and the highest mountain in the British Isles. Trekking to the summit and back can easily be done in a day. Admire the beautiful highland landscapes as you follow the path that steadily climbs to the summit.
At the end of a day walking you can unwind by trying some of Scotland’s famous gastronomic treats, with a wild salmon supper perhaps washed down with a glass of whiskey.
